Beagle Bash & Picnic a Treat for All
![]()
The 2007 Beagle Bash & Annual Potluck Picnic was filled with tasty treats for both humans and Beagles. The event, graciously hosted and coordinated by Jean Applegate, featured Beagles bobbing for hot dogs, finding hidden rabbit toys, doing tricks, and making agility jumps. After the Beagles got their treats, their owners feasted on hamburgers, hot dogs, and a yummy variety of salads and desserts.
Beagles and their humans have a great time at the 2007 Beagle Bash

President's Circle Awards
![]()
At the August 26 meeting, President Claudia Anderson presented the following President’s Circle Awards.
KEN JORGENSON
Our annual Specialty show is the event that showcases our club to the show Beagle community. To a large extent, our club’s reputation is based on the success of our Specialty show. The chair of this event must keep on top of a myriad of details, make many decisions, work with the all-breed club personnel, and coordinate the efforts of the show committee members in order to pull off a successful show. It is a job that requires several months of attention and culminates in an intense couple of days of making sure everything is going according to plan and troubleshooting when it isn’t. The Columbia-Willamette Beagle Club is very fortunate to have had a chair this year (and last year) who has done us proud and has led us to another excellent Specialty Show. This President’s Circle Award is given in sincere appreciation for his steady and dedicated leadership to the chair of our 10th Annual Specialty Show, Ken Jorgenson.
GARY FLIGHTNER
It is unusual to give a President’s Circle Award to the same person twice in one year. However, this recipient is very deserving of this honor. He took on the huge responsibility of hospitality at this year’s specialty, and when the expected electricity was not readily available, he made it work by setting up and monitoring a food station hundreds of yards away from the show ring. While most of us were watching Beagles in the ring, he was watching the beans and other food items to make sure they were warm and ready for the potluck. Then he engineered the moving of the feast from the warming area to the eating area, setting up the tables and chairs, and arranging the food on the tables. He showed up the night before the event to get things prepared, and on the day of the show, he was last to leave as he packed everything in his truck. And what’s more, he then took all the club supplies to the storage facility, the same storage facility where he’d trucked all the other club supplies that had to be moved from their previous storage spot the day before. So it is with deep gratitude and appreciation that we present this President’s Circle Award to Gary Flightner for his initiative, hard work, and gracious hosting.

Online Breeder Classifieds to List Full Litter-Registered Puppies
The American Kennel Club announced that litters registered with the AKC using the Full Litter Registration process can now be listed in the Online Breeder Classifieds (OBC). Full Litter Registration allows a breeder to register the litter and each puppy individually at the same time. The OBC service provides contact information for breeders, who currently have AKC puppies available for sale, to the public via the AKC web site.
“We are pleased to expand the OBC listings to include puppies individually registered as part of the Full Litter Registration option so that breeders can take advantage of a variety of services and programs tailored to our core constituents,” said Assistant Vice President Registration / Customer Service David W. Roberts.
Breeders seeking more information should visit www.akc.org/classified or call AKC Customer Service at 919-233-9767.
