AKC Approves 2010 Specialty
Show Chair Janet Armstrong received correspondence from the American Kennel Club approving CWBC’s specialty on October 4 & 5, 2010. This event will precede the National Beagle Club Specialty on October 6, 7, & 8. Both shows will be at the Red Lion at the Quay in Vancouver, WA. Approval of the National specialty is still pending.
AKC’s approval of CWBC’s show included acceptance of Breed judge Dr. Catharina Linde-Forsberg from Sweden, Sweeps judge Kevin Brooks from Texas, and Obedience, Rally Obedience, and Juniors judge Pamela Weaver from Oregon.

Trophy Donations On Line
Webmaster Gary Miller recently posted on the CWBC website a way for people to sponsor specific trophies for the 2010 specialty. Trophy sponsors pay for their donations using Pay Pal or a credit card. When a trophy is sponsored, the name of the sponsor appears on the website. Sponsors can even arrange to have their websites displayed if they want. In addition to sponsoring specific trophies, people can also donate to the general trophy and/or hospitality fund.
Trophy chair Pat Marlow has ordered custom-made stained glass mosaics from Spokane-area artist and Beagle breeder Lorna Boydston. The mosaics, depicting a Beagle profile, will be displayed on trivets, plaques, boxes, and trays.

Melody's Diamond Rose of GEM—"Bouncer"
NJC, JS-N, NAC, RS-N, NA, NAJ, NGC, GS-N, OAC, RS-0, OAFebruary 14, 1998—December 4, 2009
Bouncer was a great dog, always willing to please and she did it with enthusiasm. She was devoted to us and us alone. Time went by way too fast and she was with us for too short of a time. She has crossed over the rainbow bridge and I know she is bouncing around waiting for us.
We will miss you, girl! Gary & Carolyn Miller

CH Starbright Sarah Mae.
March28th 1998—April 23, 2009
Mandy Bobbitt gave me Bedlam Jonquil and I bred her to best beagle that I had ever seen at the time: CH MSK's Earnest Ernest owned by Pat Marlow. Jonquil had three surviving puppies. The one that we kept was named Starbright Sarah Mae. She won Best In Show at the 2000 Triple Challenge of the National Beagle Club under judge Eddie Dzuik. She competed in field trials in UKC and AKC and ARHA. She only needed a first place win in UKC to be a Hunting Beagle Champion, having already earned the required points for such a title. She did get a first place win in one of the last AKC field trials in the SPO format that our club put on. Sarah was also shown with her half sister CH Cut To The Chase (Madison) as a brace in the 2003 National Specialty in the 15" variety. Being the only brace shown, they were the 15" variety winners, losing Best Brace in Show to the 13" variety brace of two Applegate beagles shown by Kendra Malone. Sarah was an easy free whelper who also took on some of Madison's puppies when Sarah only whelped one puppy, "Lucky" and she needed to get rid of some milk. Madison was only too glad to have the help. Sarah was an accurate trailer who could easily circle her own rabbit by herself when she needed. At one UKC trial, she ran her own rabbit for over an hour without one check. She wasn't the fastest trailer, but she was very sure of her ability to track a rabbit and not lose it. Sarah was one of those beagles that wasn't content to just sit in your lap, but almost seemed like she wanted to crawl into your own skin, she wanted to get that close. She was our first show beagle and a pleasure to have and I will always be grateful for the many hours we spent in the field and the adventures that we shared.
Ken Jorgenson
