Join Us for AKC Canine Experience

CWBC will join other specialty and all-breed clubs in presenting an AKC Canine Experience on Saturday, June 19 at the Washington County Fair Complex in Hillsboro, OR. Jeannie Wright is coordinating our club’s participation and she is looking for volunteers! Please call her at (503) 394-3047 or e-mail jeannie@santiamsheep.com.

Participating in this AKC Canine Experience fulfills one of the requirements CWBC must meet to hold a specialty show in 2011.

Set up will begin at 8 a.m. We will need helpers for the club information booth and to help set up and run the fun match. Bring your own chairs. You may bring your own food or there will be a “Chuck Wagon” food vendor where people can purchase food.

The AKC Canine Experience will feature “Meet the Breed” booths, grooming demonstrations, handling lessons for beginners and juniors, a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test, and fun matches in conformation, junior showmanship, rally, and obedience.

More than 35 breeds will be showcased, including several rare breeds.

The tentative schedule of events is:

CGC Testing, Obedience &

Rally Trial—10 a.m.

Handling Class—10:30 a.m.

Jr. Showmanship—12:30 p.m.

Conformation—1:00 p.m.

Yellow Brick Road will be collecting food and supplies for the homeless and their dogs. Please bring donations of small bags of dog food and treats, leashes, collars, and grooming supplies, as well as small size hygiene products of all kinds for humans.

Feel free to bring your Beagle to participate in any of the activities above and/or to be a “demo” dog at the information booth. Hope to see you there.

Trophy Sponsors Still Needed

A little more than half of the trophies for the 2010 specialty have sponsors. We still need sponsors for the remaining trophies. The trophies are custom designed and created pieces by Northwest artist (and Beagle owner/breeder/ exhibitor) Lorna Boydston. They are stained glass mosaics of a Beagle head on various items such as trivets, plaques, boxes, lazy susans, and trays. You can go on-line at www.cwbeagles.com to donate using a credit card or Pay Pal.
