We can use your help!
Volunteers are the heart of our rescue program. They are the ones who do nearly all of the essential but time-consuming jobs associated with rescue. Since our program is considered a "referral service" fostering dogs will be reserved for emergency situations, however, there are many other jobs for those who may want to get involved with rescue! It is one of our goals to expand our volunteer base so that no one is stuck with all of the work and any one of the rescue volunteers can take time off without the program falling apart.
Some of the jobs may include:
Administrative Support
- Putting together packets of information to be mailed to those who wish to place a Beagle.
- Putting together packets of information to be mailed to those interested in adopting a Beagle.
- Screen applications for both of the above for accuracy and completeness. Verify references.
- Make follow-up calls to those who have adopted a new Beagle. Assist with questions, training ideas or concerns. This type of follow-up will ensure that the new owner know they are not alone. We are available to help make this a successful outcome.
Field Support
Perform onsite inspections of potential adopters - Visit the home of those wishing to place a Beagle in rescue to verify breed, temperament, obtain records, obtain photo for web site.
- Transport emergency rescue cases.
- Foster Care Givers. Fill out the forms on the side bars. We never have enough foster care available!
- Help set up displays and information tables at dog related events (when appropriate).
- Join the Rescue Mentor Program and help folks learn how to keep the dog they rescued!
Fund Raising/Donations
- Solicit local pet related vendors for donations of need (food, supplies, books, discount coupons)
- Contact AKC, AHAA to acquire informational pamphlets to be included in our packets. Maintain adequate supply to be included in our mailings.
- Contact dog trainers, groomers, veterinarians and other service providers to see if they would be willing to donate services or offer a discount for rescued Beagles. It is important that no one vendor be inundated with requests & there are many in our area.
Volunteering doesn’t have to be a full time job! If you would like to volunteer but your time is extremely limited we can still use your support. If you are interested in supporting this worthwhile cause, here are a couple of forms you can fill out and submit:
